Peatlands Programme

Peatlands play a crucial role in climate change mitigation, as they store large amounts of carbon and also promote biodiversity. The protection of still intact and the rewetting of drained peatlands is therefore of crucial importance for CO2 sequestration and mitigation. This session is dedicated to the technical aspects of peatland rewetting, the political instruments for promoting peatland rewetting and possibilities for implementation and increasing its acceptance. Additionally, the session will address innovations in the field of paludiculture.
